A Bug, A Smile and Patterned Papers

I made this card to enter into a few challenges.  I used Create a Critter to cut the worm and Just Because Cards to cut the apples and the wording.  Because the card cartridge uses the base card size to then proportion the other cuts, and I didn't cut a card from it, the sizes were weird.  The larger apple shown was cut at 4" and it only measures 1-1/2".  I still don't quite understand fully how Cricut sizes things!  The papers are all patterned and from DCWV:  the yellow comes from the Citrus matstack; the red and the darker green used for the leaves and under the worm are both from the Christmas combo printed matstack; and the criss-cross green is actually a Heidi Grace double-sided paper.  There is a dotted pattern on the other side of this pattern which I'm putting on the inside of the card.

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Bug Bites  create your best "buggie" project
Paper Cutz Challenge #84   use three patterned papers in any colors and theme
Chloe and her Clip-on Koalas  anything with a smile on it

Thanks for stopping by!

Crafting with Cristina Challenge #20--Cricutless & Stamping

I found the perfect challenge to enter this card, which I made for my husband's 14-year old nephew.  I knew he played guitar and I needed something cool and not cute!  I found this paper at Michael's.  It's by Autumn Leaves and it's called HoneyDo-Diamond Plate.  I cut the paper to fit the card and to show each section of color/pattern.  The silver shimmer paper is from a Heidi Grace 8x8 stack, and the black with polka dots is from my scraps.  I wound up putting the polka dot paper over the solid black at the bottom because I thought it looked better.  The stamp is from Inkadinkadoo Rock Star set, and I added 3 black dots as well!  The guitar is a sticker from Creative Imaginations.

Simple and quick!  No cricut cuts and some stamping involved.  That's the requirements for Cristina's Challenge #20.

This is the 12x12 paper before it was cut.

Birthday Card for a Challenge

I made this card for a friend's son who is turning 18.  I think I'm happy with the way it turned out.  What do you think?

I'm also entering this card into the Wacky Wednesday #31, Manly Challenge which is to make a card or anything for a GUY.  I think this is certainly manly enough.  I cut the numbers and shadows from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge, and the sentiment from Wild Card.  "You Rock" is an Inkadinkadoo stamp; 9 in the set of Rock Star.  Edged that with Tim Holtz Old Paper Distress Ink.  The zigzag stitching is a DCWV rub-on.  I love those! The patterned papers are from DCWV Natural Mat Stack and the cardstock is from my stash.  Thanks for looking, love to read your comments.

Challenge Entry

This is for K Andrew's Simply Sunday Challenge at Getting Cricky.  I posted this card earlier, but have since modified it slightly and want to enter it into Kristal's challenge.

The butterfly was cut from the Sentimentals cartridge at 4-1/2" using fit to length because the wing span is so wide that when I first cut it, it came out 8-1/2" wide!! Used papers from my stash, and the Cuttlebug Scrollwork embossing folder for the frame.  This is an A2 card.  TFL!

Birthday Card for a Friend

After seeing the beautiful cards that Maria made for the Pinkalicious Blog Hop, I just had to try my hand at one myself.   At first I was having trouble getting the right colors for the butterfly until I googled an image of one and found many beautiful monarch butterflies.  So that gave me the push I needed.

Thanks to Maria for her inspiration.  You can find her at http://www.believedreamcreatewithmaria.com/
And thanks also to Georgiana at http://carsonscricutcreations.blogspot.com/ who inspired me to dress up my envelope with scraps.  Such terrific ideas!  TFL!

Forgot to include that the butterfly was cut from the Sentimentals cartridge (don't you just love the intricacy?!) at 4-1/2" fit to length because the wing span is so wide, when I first tried to cut it, the darn thing was 8-1/2" wide!! Used papers from my stash, and the Cuttlebug Scrollwork embossing folder for the frame.  Love to receive your comments!  Thanks for visiting.

Cricut Cardz Challenge #64

I want to enter this bookmark into the Cricut Cardz Challenge for this week, using any Cricut cartridge and any colors.  I used Lacy Labels to cut the bookmark at 2" using brown cardstock and the dots paper.  Then I used the Meow cartridge to cut the phrase Here Kitty at 1-1/2".  The papers and punch-out paws came from Deja Views "Cat's Life" paper & punch out tablet I recenty got on clearance at Michael's.  I made this bookmark for my husband of his 3 "boys" and 1 "girl."

Thanks for looking!

Yellow and red cardstock scraps
Cuttlebug embossing borders, Pop Culture, 5 in a set
Patterned paper from DCWV Green Stack
Ribbon from stash

Punched the oval to layer between the two (needed some depth)
