Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge - Anything Goes

For this Die Cuttin' Divas challenge, it's ANYTHING GOES!

I made my first Valentine's card, which started out with a 5 x 6-1/2" white pre-scored card.  I rounded the corners, then added a valentine print paper for my background.  The envelope image is cut from Doodlecharms at 3" with shadow.  I embossed the envelope with Swiss Dots and added a pink flap so I could stamp my sentiment.  Used some glittered pink cardstock for the heart.  The OXO is cut from the Sweethearts cart at 1-1/4".  I think it turned out pretty cute.  What do you think?

Our sponsor for this week's and next week's challenge is Zva Creations with a donation of some beautiful gems.

We hope you'll join us for Anything Goes week at DCD, and enter your card, layout, home decor, or altered project using a die cut image.  Enter it at the Die Cuttin' Divas blog and be sure to link back to your post.

Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #99

We've got a new challenge for you at Die Cuttin' Divas this week.  The challenge is to use an edge punch and ribbon in your project.
-------------------------------------

I made some tags. I've had these tags in my stash for probably 2 years now.  They measure about 4" x 2-3/8".  I decided it was time to use them.  They started out looking like this.

And they ended up looking like this.

As you can see, I used ribbon on each tag, and an edge punch on three of the tags.  I'll share the ingredients for each tag separately, so you can jump to the one you're interested in, or just look at the photos!

Let me tell you first that our sponsor for this challenge (and last week's challenge) is The Robin's Nest, and they are generously providing a $50 gift certificate!!

We hope you'll join the challenge this week and submit your card, layout, or altered project using ribbon and an edge punch.  You have one week to plan, create, and submit your project.  Remember to include which die cut you used and a link back to Die Cuttin' Divas.  You may enter up to 3 projects per challenge.  The prizes span two weeks of challenges with a winner being announced every other week from two combined challenges.

Be sure to check out all the Design Team's projects for some inspiration!

Now, a little note to say that I recently won some goodies from Karen at Little Scrap Pieces, which included all the beautiful crinkle ribbon you see on my tags (excluding the brown ribbon), and a great embossing folder used on the purple tag.  Thanks, Karen!

Sealed with a Kiss:
EK Success scalloped edge punch used on the striped paper.
Ribbon from Little Scrap Pieces (LSP)

Scalloped heart cut from Doodlecharms at 3"
White heart cut at 2-1/2", both on pg. 85
My Cricut ran off the card stock when cutting  the scalloped heart, but I actually liked how it looked on the tag, so I went with it!
Funny how that worked out!!

For You:
Cut mat from brown cardstock and punched the bottom edge with MS Eyelet Lace punch.
Patterned paper on top of that.
Brown ribbon from my stash.

EK Success label punch.
Stamp is $1.00 wooden stamp that I've had for a long time.
Blue Liquid pearls.
Flower from LSP.

Hello Friend:
Crinkle ribbon from LSP.
I embossed a piece of white cardstock with the
Sizzix Flower Vine Embossing Folder (courtesy of Karen, LSP), and then lightly inked it with victorian violet ink.

No edge punch was used on this tag, but the decorative flower is a die cut from the Sizzix Decorative Frames Set.

Stampendous clear stamps.
Purple flower and brad.

Happy Birthday:
Used the Fiskars grass punch on yellow, green, and patterned cardstock, then turned the punched pieces upside down and layered them on the tag.

Yellow ribbon from LSP.
Fiskars Scalloped Oval Punches, sizes medium and large.
Happy Birthday wooden  stamp.

I'm entering my tags in the following challenges:
Hiding in My Craft Room - make or use a tag
Little Scrap Pieces - use a flower

I Can't Pass Up a Bargain!

So, I went to my local Staples store today to get ink for my printer, and they had a small table near the checkout with some clearance items.  And I saw this scrapbook for $1.00, a 12x12 scrapbook (kit, more or less) for just one $1.00!!  Regularly $14.90.  Well, I wasn't even sure I could use it, but I figure I still have 20 years of scrapping to do on my daughter,so why not?!  You can't even buy a pack of gum for $1.00 these days.

The theme is "Kids" and it has 16 pages of layouts.  And they even included some cute die cuts and a sheet of stickers.

Sorry for the poor pictures, but it was getting to be dusk and I took the book out on my sunporch to try to capture some daylight so the flash wouldn't reflect off the pages!

I do think I'll use it, but for some reason, I'm feeling a little guilty...like I'm cheating on my Cricut!

Thanks for stopping by!! Hope you're having a nice day.

Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #98

Welcome to Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #98.

This week's challenge is to use a penguin in your project.

I chose the penguin from the Jolly Holidays cartridge--isn't it just so cute?  Since he (or she) was holding the umbrella, I just had to go with the phrase, "Under the weather?"  I don't have any sick cards in my stash, so this was a good way to add some, especially since I decided to make two cards.

A2 size card
Black cardstock mat
Red striped patterned paper
Penguin from Jolly Holidays at 3-3/4", faux stitching on the umbrella
Yellow stickles on the nose and umbrella handle
Fiskars Cloud punch embossed with Cuttlebug Musical Flourish
Computer generated sentiment punched with Fiskars rectangle punch
Inside sentiment is a wooden stamp.

Our sponsor for this week's and next week's challenge is Robin's Nest, and they are generously providing a $50 gift certificate!!

You have one week to plan, create, and submit your project.  Remember to include which die cut you used and a link back to Die Cuttin' Divas.  You may enter up to 3 projects per challenge.  The prizes are for 2 weeks of challenges with the winner being announced every other week from two combined challenges.

Here's the second card I made.  This penguin was my first cut, which I thought was a bit small, but figured, why not make a second card.  I'm also trying to use up some of the MANY scraps I have.

We look forward to seeing your projects this week!  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Die Cuttin' Divas Color Challenge, #97

Hello!!

Welcome back for another Die Cuttin' Divas challenge.

This week we have a color challenge for you...use ivory, gold, and blue.   Look at these pretty colors!

Here's what I made for the challenge.

The card size is 5x7 in ivory cardstock (even though it may look white in the photo, it really is off-white).  I used gold metallic paper and cut that at 4.75 x 6.75.  On top of that, I cut light blue cardstock at 4.5 x 6.5, and embossed it with my Cuttlebug Snowflake folder.  Then, I sponged the raised snowflakes lightly with off-white ink.  That seemed to make the embossing a little more pronounced.

The snowflake is cut from Tie the Knot cartridge at 3-3/4".  (Who would have thought you could find a snowflake on a wedding cartridge?  I really like it, though, probably because it has a shadow.)   I cut the snowflake using light blue glitter cardstock from The Christmas Winter Combo matstack (DCWV), and the shadow is cut twice in ivory cardstock so I could pop it up with foam squares. I just love that effect!  Added some blue gems, blue pearls, gold pearls, and some blue stickles for even more glitter around the edges.

The wording "Winter Wishes" is cut from Jolly Holidays at 1-1/2".  I wrapped some light blue organza ribbon around the blue mat with gold ribbon and a bow on top of that!

We hope you'll join the Die Cuttin' Divas COLOR challenge this week.  To enter the challenge, make a card, layout, home decor, or altered project using the colors shown above.  As with all our challenges, your project also needs to include a die-cut.  Be sure to tell us which die cut(s) you used and link your post back to Die Cuttin' Divas.  You can enter up to 3 projects!

Our sponsor is Scrappy Moms, and they are providing a stamp set of the winner's choice.

We look forward to seeing what you create!  Thanks for visiting.

Building my Christmas Card Stash

I didn't make too many Christmas cards last year because I just didn't have the time.  Well, now I do. So I figure I might as well get a jump on Christmas for this year!  Here's one I made using the Theresa Collins December 25th cartridge that I ordered right after Christmas because I saw it on sale at Hallmark Scrapbooking!

This is an A2 size card.  I cut the Santa silhouette and circle at 3-1/4" from the December 25th cart.  All paper is from my scraps.  The Cuttlebug Victoria embossing folder was used on the white background mat.  I typed the sentiment on my computer, cut and inked the edges of it, and added some red sparkly ribbon.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Hiding in My Craft Room HIMCR79 - Black & White Plus 1 (my plus 1 is red!)
Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge MOJO274 - Round or Square? (square)
Jingle Belles Christmas Blog - All Things New (my NEW Dec 25th cart)
Little Scrap Pieces - Anything Goes

Thanks so much for stopping by!

It's Winter!

It's been cold, and why shouldn't it be--it's WINTER!

I made this quick and simple card using paper from the DCWV Winter Combo matstack - it includes
different patterned papers, all in blue.

This cute snowman is from a seasonal cartridge I picked up last year called Winter's in the Air.  I embossed him with Tiny Bubbles Cuttlebug folder, gave him a warm scarf, silver buttons, and blue googly eyes.  The 3 blue snowflakes are actually punched and glued.  The sentiment, "Got Snow?" is from BugBites Mistletoe stamp set.  I embossed that with white powder.

I'm entering this card into some of the winter challenges now going on:
Little Scrap Pieces - winter theme
Scrappy Mom's Stamps - tic tac toe (snowflake, blue, die cuts)
DLArt Thankful Thursday - anything goes
Go Fish Challenges - snow or winter themed project

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #96

Hi Everyone, and Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful holiday!  Are you ready for the new year?  Wow, 2013?!  Sometimes hard to believe those numbers.

Well, I'm happy to be back on the Die Cuttin' Divas Design Team.  We have a great challenge for you for this first week in 2013--a Sketch Challenge.

Here's the card I made.  My brother's birthday was December 27 (yeah, he kinda gets cheated!), and he's older than me!  ha-ha!  So I was trying to make a funny card about getting older.  I used Life's a Party for the wording, and found the funny tombstone in Simply Charmed.  The striped paper is from DCWV "All About Boys."

I popped up the oval and the tombstone on foam squares.

And finished the inside with the matching striped paper at the left end of the card.

Our sponsor this week is
Scrappy Mom's Stamps
and they will donate one stamp set of the winner's choice!

We hope you'll play along with us this week for our Sketch Challenge.
You'll have one week to plan, create, and submit your project.  Please remember to include which die cut you used and a link back to Die Cuttin' Divas.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING WHAT YOU CREATE!
