Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #108

Hi Everyone!

This week's Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge is...
use ribbon and embossing

I made this quick little gift card using the Sweethearts cartridge to cut the sentiment, "For You."  The embossed pink background is made using Cuttlebug's Heart Block embossing folder.  The hearts are cut with a Fiskars punch.  I added some purple crinkle ribbon and purple gems.  The papers are specific colors that match with the next project I'm going to share with you.

But first, let me tell you that our sponsor for this challenge is our very own Design Team Diva, Barb from BugBites.  She is providing one of her fabulous stamp sets as the prize!

We hope you'll join us for the challenge this week at Die Cuttin' Divas. You'll have one week to enter your card, layout, or altered project.  Please remember to include which die cut you used and provide a link back to our site.

We look forward to seeing what you create!

Now I want to share the rest of the project matching the gift card.  My niece is a bridesmaid in a friend's upcoming wedding this spring.  The bridal shower was held this past weekend, and she was responsible for making the shower favors. Well, we made this four layer paper cake together!  I mostly did the cutting with my Cricut and she did the folding and assembling.  She's very ambitious!

Didn't it turn out great?

The cake was made using the cake box cut from p. 67 of the Tie the Knot cartridge.  The words and other images were cut from both Tie the Knot and Sweethearts cartridges.  Each layer has 9 boxes and we graduated the layers by cutting 4 different size boxes.  The top layer box was 5.25", second layer 6", third layer 6.75", and the bottom layer 7.5".  That's 36 boxes in total, which my niece filled with candies and mints.  She said it was a big hit at the shower.

Here's a few shots of how it started out:

I'd like to link up this project to the following challenges.

Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #107

Hi Everyone!

It's time for another Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge.

This week, we want you to...
use a bunny!

I used Nate's ABC's cart to create this Easter card.  It's an A2 sized card covered with a blue polka dot print from DCWV Stack 7.  I had the kraft oval in my stash so I embossed it with Musical Flourish Cuttlebug folder.  I cut the bunny at 3-1/2" with its layers.  Added some foam eggs and bling, and cut the Happy Easter from an older DCWV stack called Seasons.  I think it turned out kind of cute for a quick Easter card.

Suburbia!

I'm loving this Cricut cartridge, Suburbia!!  The images are so cute.

Here's a card I made for a co-worker's birthday.

The paper is Everyday Eclectic from Echo Park.  I won this pack back in January from Joy's Life, and it includes some really great papers with fun patterns! Love it, and thank you, Joy!

Popped up the image w/shadow on some foam squares.  Don't you just love the colors and patterns?

I love the silhouette of this girl talking on the phone.  And seriously?  "You're having a birthday?!"  That's what I put on the inside of the card to my friend, with a birthday greeting, too.  She loved it!

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
Tuesday Throwdown - paper piecing
Craftin' Dessert Divas - anything goes linky party
Paper Playtime - anything goes
D.L. Art - anything goes linky party
Everyday is an Occasion - link party
Docerela Creations - pastel colors (the aqua blue is sort of pastel, isn't it?)

Hi, it's Tuesday!

Time for a new Die Cuttin' Divas challenge.

Thanks, first, for all the entries we received for last week's sketch challenge!  We enjoyed seeing all of them!

This week's challenge is...
use the colors green and gold.

I made this card using a 5x7" card base and covered it completely with a page from a Scrapbooking desk calendar my daughter gave me for Christmas one year.  The papers are all 5.5x7" with all kinds of patterns, relative to the seasons, holidays, etc.

Then I used my Martha Stewart punch around the page Doily Lace punch for the gold mat.

The boy holding a shamrock was cut from A Child's Year (there's a girl image, too) at 2-3/4" with shadow.  Decided to cut a green shamrock separately and stickled it.

The stamp is a wooden one I've had for some time.  Stamped it on white cardstock, rounded the corners, and made my own shadow.  I really like the sentiment.

A Friendship Card

I've been experimenting with a new Cricut Cartridge I just bought, Creative Cards.  This card with the scalloped edge was cut at 6".  When I folded it, the back edge extended about 1/2" further than the front so I trimmed it off.  Cut the leaves from this cart, too.  But I used purchased flowers that I've had in my stash for a while, from Michael's, from their Dollar bins.  The tag is 1 of 3 Spellbinders Grommet Tags, stamped with an Inkadinkadoo clear stamp, and adorned with cute little button brads.  Added some lace and patterned paper near the bottom.

This cartridge offers 5 different style cards in 4 versions each. So you can make 20 complete cards using this cartridge.  It also has a matching envelope for each style card.  I wanted this cart when I saw that it had a 3-fold style card with a window.  I'll show that on another post soon.

I'd like to enter the following challenges:
(I used lace, diecut [leaves], and brads [the little buttons are brads], but it could have also fit into
sentiment, buttons, and flowers!)
Little Scrap Pieces - Think Spring
Docerela Creations - Friendship

Thanks for stopping by; I appreciate your visit!!
