Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #54

Welcome to another challenge with Die Cuttin' Divas!

This week the challenge is to use Feathers, Flowers, and/or Fabric in your project.  Be sure to include a die-cut and tell us where it's from, and link back to the Die Cuttin' Divas blog.

I used Fabric in my project.  Here's the card I made:

The fabric paper is kind of new from DCWV.  When I first saw it in my local scrapbooking stores, I thought it was so pretty.  They had two different packs--a pink/tan color scheme.

AND, a blue/brown color scheme.

I couldn't decide on which one, so I bought them both!!

Here's how I made my card:
Card size: 5" x 6.5" using Kraft cardstock
Floral background fabric cut at 4.75" x 6.25"
Tan fabric cut at 3" x 5.5", adhered to brown shimmer cardstock
Nifty Fifties cartridge, pg. 50 dress form cut at 5" using the brown shimmer cardstock, tan cardstock for the shadow, and white cardstock for the dress.
Then I cut the dress again (by hand) on the pink fabric and ahered it to the white cardstock dress.
Sentiment is from My Pink Stamper Pinkalicious set stamped on white cardstock and punched with an oval punch which I cut in order to have a straight edge against the measuring tape.
Measuring tape is a peel and stick fabric border by Flea Market (isn't that the cutest thing?!)
Pink ribbon and a clear gem for the dress finishes my card.

To enter the challenge this week, make something using flowers, feathers, and/or fabric.  You will have one week to plan, create and submit your project.  Please remember to include which die-cut you used with a link back to Die Cuttin' Divas

Thanks for stopping by--appreciate all your comments!!

I'd like to enter this card into D.L. Art Thankful Thursday Challenge--anything goes!

DCD Challenge--Favorite Pet

Hi Everyone,

Scroll down to the previous post to see what I made for the Die Cuttin' Divas challenge this week--favorite pet.  Thanks to everyone who has left me a comment so far.  I had some questions about that sentiment on the front of the card, and I guess I really didn't explain it too well.  It was actually a wooden stamp--quite a large one in fact--that I believe I bought at Michael's from their $1.00 bins.  After buying it, I thought, oh my it's so big I might never use it.  But when this challenge came up and I found the cat and bird cut on Cricut Lite Meow, well, I just knew it was perfect.  I didn't ink the birdie on the stamp, but instead, put the paper birdie in that space (sort of).  Thanks for all your comments; they're much appreciated.

The sentiment on the inside of the card was typed on my computer using a font called Tall Paul.

Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge--Love Your Pet!

It's time for a new DCD Challenge!

This week the challenge is to create a project using an image of your favorite pet.
Didn't the Design Team create such great projects!?!

Well, this was an easy one for me.  We have four cats that we adore, so I knew I wanted to use a cat image.  I have the Cricut Lite Meow cartridge and found the cutest image on it to use, along with the perfect sentiment.  Here's my card.

The paper is Deja Views, Cat's Life, although these particular two patterns didn't have any reference to cats.  The paper I used for the cat was a 4x6 scrap I received as part of a giveaway that I won a while back, and I loved the textured look of it.  Added a strip of ribbon across the middle, some faux stitching around the border, a PK critters face on the kitty, and on the inside, punched two paw prints in the border paper, and printed the sentiment on my computer.  What do you think?

Our sponsor for this challenge is Paper Piercings by Nikki

So let's see those creative projects using an image of your favorite pet, and a die-cut of course.  You will have one week to plan, create and submit your project.  The winner will be announced next Tuesday.  Please remember to include which die-cut you used with a link back to Die Cuttin' Divas

We look forward to seeing your projects!

I'd also like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Cardz TV - make a card for any occasion using real or faux stitching
Paper Playtime - use an image of any animal and include a sentiment

For My Sister

My sister's birthday was on Valentine's Day.  In years past, I usually give her Valentine/Birthday cards, but this year I just wanted it to be strictly birthday.  And I wanted it to be nostalgic.  So I made this card for her.  I used the Nifty Fifties cartridge for all the cuts.  I really like how it turned out and I thought my sister would get a "kick" out of it, too!!

How I made this card:
5 x 6.5 pre-scored card
Blue cardstock embossed with Divine Swirls
Car cut at 2-3/4"
"Get your kicks" cut at 3" -- cut "kicks" off
Heat embossed with clear powder
Word "on" cut from the word "teaspoon"-- From My Kitchen
Also heat embossed with clear powder
Route 66 sign cut at 1-1/4"
Fussy cut the road and embossed it with Distressed Stripes
Tires are embossed with Herringbone
Used glossy accents on the headlights

Thanks for visiting--Come back real soon.

Birthday card for a Teenage Girl

This is a birthday card I made for my 17-year old niece.  Hope she likes it.  It's sometimes hard to know if you're getting it "right" with that age.  You don't want the card to come off too childish, or trying to be too cool either.  I took a shot...hopefully it's the right choice.

Recipe:
Card is 5x6.5
Forever Young Cartridge
DCWV Hippie Chic Matstack
(for all cuts on the front)
Pink cardstock for the front mat and inside
Wooden stamps
Pink ink
Gems

Thanks for stopping by and for your comments!

A Humorous Birthday Card

My husband needed a birthday card for his sister.  In fact, for both his sister and her husband--they share the same birthday! Unusual, huh?  Anyway, I asked my husband for his input to try to get an idea of what to make.  I showed him my Fiskars Make a Wish clear stamps and he chose this sentiment.

Hmmm....now what did I have that would go with this sentiment.  Couldn't really think of any die cut image I could use, but I immediately thought of a stamp I had that seemed perfect.

I'm liking this...but it needed something else to make it a real zinger!

MY FINISHED PRODUCT!!

Hope you like my card!
Thanks for visiting; please come again soon!

Hi Everyone!

It's a brand new week, and a brand new challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas.   This week is a Sketch Challenge, and we invite you to play along.

I love sketch challenges.  For me, you don't have to think about how you're going to lay things out; you just have to pick the papers and embellishments.  I haven't ever made a sympathy card, so I thought this sketch would be perfect to add such a card to my inventory.

Light gold cardstock folded to 5"x7"
KandCompany Classic K Bailey Designer Paper
Elegant Edges, pg. 62, Clover
Making Memories ribbon, Antique
Fiskars border punch, Threading Water

Valentiny Cards

I made these 3x3 Valentine cards for the Fantabulous Cricut challenge.  All the cuts are from Create a Critter, the bear is cut at 2-1/2", and the butterfly and cupcake are cut at 2-1/4". I used Elegant Edges to cut the background papers on the bear and cupcake card.  I'm also going to include these cards with the others I'm sending to Faith Abigail to donate to sick children in the hospital.

Hope you like them!  Thanks for stopping by!

Valentine's Cards for Kids

About a week ago, Faith Abigail Designs had a blog hop, and each blogger created a Valentine's Day card for a sick child.  Although the hop is over, you can still create a Valentine's card and link it to Faith's blog.  The link-up will remain open until February 7th at 12:00am. Then you should mail your card to the address provided at her blog. On February 10th, all of the cards will be collected and donated to a local children's hospital.

I wanted to make a few cards for the cause.  I started with this one which is an A2 card.  I cut the bug at 3" from Simply Charmed.  Used a PK stamp for the bug's face, and a stamp from My Pink Stamper Buggy Punnies.  Added a little ribbon and stamped the sentiment and hearts at the top, and here's a cute card!

I'm also entering this card into the following challenges:
Cardz TV Challenge #101 - make a Valentine Card
My Creative Time - make a Valentine Card

The following card was made with a pre-printed page from a scrap calendar my daughter bought me one year for Christmas.  I trimmed it, stamped it, and added hearts to the corners.  Simple!

I'd like to also enter this card into this challenge:
The Glamorous Side of Scrapping - CAS card
