DCD Challenge #154-It's Mardi Gras!

This week's challenge at

Mardi Gras!

Make a Mardi Gras inspired project (music, beads, masks, bright colors, parade, etc.)  Anything that makes you think of Mardi Gras.

This one was quite a challenge for me, but I came up with this jester's cap made with Recollections Primary Pin Dot Cardstock papers.  Aren't they the greatest?!  Love these lively colors.  The pom-poms are finished with orange stickles.  The sentiment comes from Cricut Birthday Cakes and was cut at 2" with a shadow.  Added some punched stars for a fun feel!

I hope you like my card.  Now it's your turn to give this challenge a try.  Make something that is inspired by the look and feel of Mardi Gras, or anything Mardi Gras related.  Be sure to use a die-cut and link your post back to the Die Cuttin' Divas blog site.

We look forward to seeing what you create!

Love Your Pet Day!

Bet you didn't know...
February 20 is Love Your Pet Day!

And so, the challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas this week is to
create a project including your favorite pet.

Can you guess what my favorite pet is?!

This cute kitty comes from the Cricut Meow Lite cartridge.

Oh, and what's that hiding behind my card?

It's one of my favorite pets, Smokey.  My husband calls him Puff Dog since he's kind of a hefty boy! But he's a real baby--a lovable snuggler and lap cat!

Come join Die Cuttin' Divas in the "favorite pet" challenge this week.  Create a card, layout or project incorporating your favorite pet; and be sure to use a die-cut and link your post back to the DCD blog site.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

HIMCR Challenge - Designer Paper x3

There's a really fun challenge at Hiding in My Craft Room with a terrific prize!

Use 3 designer (or printed) papers in your project.  The prize is $100 worth of products from DCWV, and they'll be picking 3 winners. Woo hoo!

Here's the card I'm entering, and all my papers are from DCWV, the Citrus matstack.  I actually used 5 different design papers from the same stack.  The yellow border has a pattern in it, as well as the orange on the balloons, it's a striped design.  And best of all, I had made this card for someone's birthday and hadn't posted it, but found this challenge which fit the card I made perfectly (usually it's the other way around!).

This card was made using the Cricut cartridge Creative Cards.  I did modify the design just a bit by adding the bottom mat to match the top mat.  On the original design, the bottom has no extra matting, just the card base alone.  The sentiment is stamped on the MCT oval stitched die.

Hope you like my card.  Thanks for stopping by!

Hurray for the weekend!

Yeah, it's the weekend!

It's been a crazy weather week.  We got a foot of snow on Thursday!

I feel bad for my husband who has to deal with the shoveling whenever we get snow!  It's a lot of work, but I do try to help where I can.

On the bright side, it sure makes for some pretty photos when the sun comes out!  What a sight, huh?

Well, I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day and were treated well!  My hubby and I went out to eat last night.  Dinner and dessert was delicious, and the restaurant gave the ladies a beautiful red rose and small box of chocolates. Yum!

I wanted to share the silly card I made for my husband for V-Day.  We both love that commercial with the owls, makes us giggle every time we see it, so I wanted to create that into a card.  Here's what I made.

The male owl was found on Nate's ABCs cartridge, and the female owl on Kate's ABCs cartridge.  Isn't that a HOOT?!  I just trimmed the branch on the male owl to put them together nicely, and moved some leaves to fill in. The word bubbles are from My Creative Time.  So, what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful weekend!!

MCT Designer Challenge

I wanted to play along with My Creative Time's Designer challenge which usually occurs every other Thursday.  The design team and Emma all take turns hosting it.  The host this time is Lee-Ann of Snappy Scraps.  She challenged everyone to use 8 of Emma's products.

Well, I think I accomplished that, and while doing so, it made me think of ways to "repurpose" Emma's products in ways I normally wouldn't use them.  Great challenge, Lee-Ann and MCT!

MCT Products Used:
Scallop and Stitched Circle (2)
All Around Birthday Time stamp
All Around Holidays Heart and Present dies (2)
Small Stitched Scalloped Bow Die - partial
Stitched Round Tab Arrow & Tag Dies
Stitched Doily Die
Vintage Stitched Label Dies (2)
Wow So Many Candles stamp

Aside from pink, brown and white cardstock, the patterned papers I used came from DCWV Animal Crackers Matstack.  The pink and white print glitters. I added some adhesive dots, too.
