Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #63 - Sketch Week

We have a new project this week, and it is a sketch challenge.

Here's how I made my card:

Brown cardstock cut and folded to make an A2 card (4-1/4 x 5-12").

Patterned paper from the Colorbok Flea Market Pad (the giveaway for this week's challenge winner)

Inked all edges with brown ink.

EK Success 2" scallop punch.

Fiskars scalloped border punch.

Paper Company Coffee Cafe stamp set.

Bridal Shower Decorations

There was a bridal shower for my niece today who is getting married in a month. So now I can share the decorations I had made for it.

These are the little boxes from Tie the Knot cartridge.  They are made so you can put something in them, like maybe candy, but I glued everything shut -- used them as a decoration on the appetizer table.

Her colors are green and purple, so I cut out these purple butterflies from the Paper Lace cartridge, p. 35.

The big project I was working on for the past week was for something to hang over her chair.  Not wanting the traditional umbrella, I bought a hanging decoration that was cute, and I thought I could alter it to incorporate her colors of green and purple.

Well, I removed all the white flowers and painted them with a mix of 2 green paints to get the color I wanted.

Then I made my own hearts, using the scalloped heart from the Sweethearts cartridge and the plain hearts from Art Philosophy cart, p26.

The lettering is from Birthday cakes.  They're cut from a glittery green cardstock, and the hearts are cut from dark purple cardstock, a medium shade of purple, and white.

Well after getting the decoration back together with her colors, I realized it wasn't easy to read being in a circular pattern.  So....I cut it apart and made this wall hanging/banner.

The ribbon is purple with purple tulle wrapped around it, but it looks blue in the photo.

I also made the bridal shower invitation (on the computer), and I took 3 copies of the invitation and fussy cut the gown 2 times and the flowers once and layered them onto an uncut invitation and made this shadowbox as one of my gifts to my niece.  Here comes the bride was cut from Sweethearts cart with the shadow.

Die Cuttin' Divas Recipe Challenge

Hi Everyone, and welcome back to another Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge.

This week is a recipe challenge:

Use Pearls, Pins and/or Punches

(along with a diecut)

I used pearls and a punch on my card.

The Miss You wording and shadow was cut at 2" from the Sentimentals cartridge.  That cart has other great phrases on it, which I love. 

I also love this paper I used; have had it in my stash for a while (bought singly at Joann's).  The punch is Martha Stewart eyelet lace punch around the page that I just purchased and couldn't wait to use.  But I had some difficulty making the corners and borders match.  Your paper has to be cut to a certain size but it seems if you're off just a bit, it can make a difference.

Added pearls to the lace border and corners.

Layered the phrase Miss You and popped it up on foam tape.

Die Cuttin' Divas Challenge #

Hi Everyone!

I found these great images on A Child's Year cartridge. 

So I made this a long card--8-1/2" x 4". 

The boy...

There were 4 more garden images on A Childs Year. Cute, aren't they?

Now the question is:  what sentiment should I put on the inside?

I didn't know what to put, so if you have any ideas, please let me know!

So Warm Out Today!

It was such a pretty day today.  My husband and I enjoyed our yard a good part of the day, and our friends of nature.  Since I haven't posted in a few days, I just had to share some photos with you.

This is one of many squirrels we have in our yard.  He just picked up a peanut my husband threw on the ground.  Notice how short his tail is!  This isn't our Henry.  He ran off after he got his peanut earlier.

My husband told me blue jays also like peanuts, so he threw a peanut down and there were 2 blue jays that would swoop down and grab it.  And they were so quick, it was hard to get a picture, but here's one of them.

And here's the other.

Here's 2 of our cats peering out the sliding glass door at us.  So...

we let them out to roam around the yard for a while.

This is Smokey, or more fondly known as "Smokedog"

This is Stripes.  Doesn't this photo look like it should be on a calendar!?  He was sitting in the garden between an azalea bush and a garden flag, and I caught him looking up!

And this is Calbert!  Sometimes we call him the "Beast."  He looks pretty beastly, doesn't he.

These are our 3 male cats.  We have one female who wasn't interested in coming outside.
