Shine On!

For the Die Cuttin' Divas Sketch Challenge, click here.

A woman at work asked me to make a card for her friend celebrating her 40th birthday and she loves shoes.  She wrote down the sentiments she wanted with a very personal message inside the card.  I finished off the inside too with the same papers.

The card is 4-3/4" x 6-1/4" with 2 rounded corners. The shiny paper is from Martha Stewart's Birthday Pad; it's pink although it looks very red in this photo.  But look how that paper shines--almost foil like.  Used Cuttlebug's Kassie's Brocade to emboss the white cardstock.  The shoe is cut from Forever Young (heels1, pg 54) at 5" because there are actually 2 shoes in the image and I wanted it to be large.  It measures about 3-1/4" with shadow.  All wording typed on computer.  Black and White patterned paper is from a Making Memories Black and White 8x8 paper pad.  Used 1-1/2" and 2" scalloped circle punches for the corner sentiment.  Added a white flower to the shoe with a Martha Stewart sticker on top of that--isn't that just the perfect beaded sticker for this shoe?! Three gems were placed on each side of HB sentiment.  Thanks for looking!

Die Cuttin' Divas Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone,

I am the 4th stop on the hop today--you should have just come from Candy's blog, Candy's Craft Corner.  I am so excited to be a new member of the Die Cuttin' Divas Design Team! This is the first design team I've been on, and I'm honored to be a part of this group of very talented crafters.  Please be sure to hop through the whole lineup for some inspiration on the sketch challenge for this week, and then enter your creation back at the Die Cuttin' Divas blog for a chance to win an Art for the Heart kit, which has been kindly donated by Suzanne, one of the DCD design team members.  You will have one week to plan, create, and submit your project.  The winner will be announced next Tuesday.

Your creation should include a cupcake and a happy birthday sentiment in honor of two birthdays this month:  Die Cuttin' Divas' one year birthday, and one of the new designers, Nikki.  Here's my card following the sketch.

And on the inside, I stamped this sentiment with a wooden stamp I found at Joann's a while back.  Isn't that the cutest phrase?!
This card is 5 x 6.5.  I think it's a great size; not too big; not too small. The patterned papers are from the DCWV Glitter Sweet Stack.  The purple cardstock is cut at 4.25 square with rounded corners.  This came from my stash and was already embossed with the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday folder as a card.  So this challenge was the perfect time to use it.  I punched the scalloped circles with a Marvy punch, stamped the green circle with Happy Birthdy and popped that up on another green circle.

The cupcake is cut at 4" using From My Kitchen.  It had a cherry on top, but I didn't use it.  I wanted the icing to really show up.  I love how it looks!  Under the cupcake is a green border punched with a Fiskars punch and more patterned cardstock from the Sweet Stack.  To finish off my card, I attached the two green circle paper clips on the purple circles with a green brad.

I have some candy to give away for going through the hop today.  All you have to do is leave a comment on this post.  I would love for you to become a follower, but it's not a requirement.  Here's a picture of what I'm giving away.

Your next stop is Cheryl at Cards by CG.  Thanks for stopping by and joining in the hop today, and check back next Tuesday for the next Die Cuttin' Divas challenge!!  Thanks so much!

A Kitty Christmas Card

I just had to share this card because I love the Create a Critter cartridge, and I love this card I made for my daughter for Christmas.  I forgot to take pictures of it before I gave it to her, so I got it back from her yesterday! (don't worry, I'll give it back to her again...maybe).  She has a grey kitty cat that she just adores--his name is Charlie.  He's always there to greet her when she goes home to her apartment.  So here's the card I made for her from me and Charlie...
And on the inside I had put a gift card that she could spend anywhere in general (using my ATG to hold it in place!).

I think he came out so cute, and pretty large too!  I think I cut him at 4" and because of his big round face, he really looked humungous at first!  I cut the hat from Jolly Holidays at maybe 2".  Note that the light green cardstock is embossed with a holly imprint from Sizzix (I just love that!) and the patterned papered is DCWV Christmas matstack.  Used some red ribbon and typed all my sentiments on my computer.  What do you think?

Thanks for looking!!   Be sure to come back on Tuesday, I have some exciting news to share with everyone!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
