It's a Girl Thing!

I made this birthday card for a girlfriend at work.  Isn't it adorable?  I love how the shoes turned out!

Ingredients:
A2 sized card
Background paper is from DCWV Shimmer Stack so it's shiny and thick.  I embossed it with Cuttlebug Victoria folder.
Grey paper on top of that embossed with Swiss Dots and punched with MS Lace Doily (or some name close to that!)
Ribbon from Michael's $1 bin - I love that ribbon!!
Shoes cut from Forever Young cart at 2" and blinged.
Sentiment is from Fiskars "Girls Night" 13-piece stamp set (just picked this up on sale at Joann's)
Birthday sentiment is Inkadinkadoo.

Gotta love the shoes, huh?!  I'm going to also post this at Decorate to Celebrate.  Their current challenge calls for an adult themed decoration. Check out their site.  I think this card is perfect for adult women everywhere!  I know this card is not eligible for a prize, (and I don't want to be included in any drawings) but I just wanted to share the adult theme with you!  BUT, could you picture a banner made of shoes for a "Girls Night In" party?!  (food for thought)  TFL!

Engagement Card

I can post this card now since the "party is over."  My niece got engaged recently and had an engagement party today.  It was an outside event and the weather was absolutely perfect.  Very nice day!  Anyway, I was real pleased with how this card turned out.  Have a look.

Cartridge:  Sweethearts.  This is a 5x6.5" card and I originally started with the guy and girl cut at 5" because I thought I was going to make this a portrait card.  As I progressed with my design, it looked better turned landscape, so I had to cut the couple again at 3-3/4" (I think; sorry didn't write it down at the time).  The heart is cut at 4-1/2" fit to length.

Paper:  Pre-folded white card and envelope (Recollections); Background cardstock is from DCWV All Dressed Up (pretty glittered design); heart is from DCWV Glitter Cardstock matstack; on the inside the red patterned paper is from DCWV Love & Wedding punched with Recollections heart border punch.  White cardstock with sentiment printed from computer (that font is called Fiolex Girls; isn't it adorable?!)  Red cardstock from the DCWV Shimmer Stack was used for the guy and girl with white textured cardstock from my stash.

Embellishments:  Red ribbon from stash with white lacy ribbon on top of that which is threaded with a silver textured ribbon from the $1 bins at Joann's.  Red adhesive heart gems also from Joann's $1 Studio 112 collection. Rounded the bottom corners.  Oh and a little dot of glitter for the diamond ring.  Didn't have any teeny tiny clear gems to use!

Operation Write Home--Challenge #7

Last card!!! YEAH!!!! This is the last card for the Operation Write Home challenge presented by Kassidy at Inking It Up this week--Challenge #7, a Thank you card.  Go to her posts to read all about this good cause, even if you don't enter. It's close to the deadline now.  This is very basic card.  Only used a Cricut cut for the label from Lacy Labels, ribbon, 2 gems, and the patterned paper is DCWV Amber Autumn matstack.

This was fun trying to meet each challenge, and was done for a good cause too.  It kind of taught me to simplify!  I want to thank everyone who stopped by and left comments on my posts; I sincerely appreciate them all.  TFL!

Operation Write Home--Challenge #2

Coming down the home stretch now.  This is Challenge #2, a Birthday Card, for the Operation Write Home  challenge that Kassidy at Inking it Up has presented to us this week.  And actually, the birthday card was made by her guest designer, Robyn of My Pink Stamper!  So she's having a challenge and giveaway as well--just make a birthday card and link it to her blog.

This "cell phone" is cut from the Paisley cartridge at 4-1/2".  Papers from my stash.  The corner punch is Fiskars Lattice that I just bought today.  New Fiskars Birthday stamp set too!.  Had those number stickers to put on the buttons of the phone--isn't that cute!

One more card to go.  Stay tuned.  These cards have to go in the mail tomorrow, so I'll be up for a while yet.

Operation Write Home--Challenge #4

I used a butterfly from Birthday Cakes cut at 2-1/2" and at 1-3/4" with a layer and shadow.  Stamp is My Pink Stamper Buggie Punnies.  Love this card!  TFL!

Operation Write Home--Challenge #3

Challenge #3 calls for making a Miss You Card.  So I used Paper Pups to cut the dog and the lettering.  Used a new Fiskars punch I got recently--Notebook.  On the inside of the card, I cut the word, Hug?

Operation Write Home--Challenge #5

So I'm jumping around a bit on the Operation Write Home challenges.  This card is for Challenge #5--a love card.  Here's what I came up with.  Totally Cricutless!  Read all about the challenges at Inking It Up with Kassidy.

I decided to use some stamps from my stash (I've always liked the Love you with a Cherry on top sentiment).  The filmstrip frame is a Sizzix die I bought just before I got my Cricut.  I had never used it, so it was perfect for this card!  What do you think?  Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Gifts

I made the following for a girlfriend's birthday.  I gave her some crafting supplies which wouldn't all fit in the bag, so I just "wrapped" some of the items in the same paper and tied the package at the end with ribbon.

A2 card from a pack of metallic orange cards that were on clearance at Joann's!! (love the metallic look and the cardstock is very thick).

The background mat is from DCWV Citrus matstack (as well as inside mat).

Solid colors from my cardstock stash; green patterned paper inside the glass and for label is Heidi Grace.

The martini glass is cut from Nifty Fifties (modified a bit); I call it an Appletini!  Label cut from Lacy Labels.

The ribbon came from a pack of self-adhesive birthday ribbons I've had for a while.

Stamps:  Cheers to You from the $1.00 bin at Michaels; Let's Party was given to me: Happy Birthday from Humorous Birthday set from Inkadinkadoo.

Added some bling!

The bag is cut from Making Memories pack of designer papers called Chloe's Closet (on clearance at Michael's!).  This cardstock is really thick and has a nice smooth finish on it, making the bag very sturdy. Cut the bag from Wrap It Up at "fit to page" which made it about 7-1/4" tall.  Cut the Happy Birthday label from Hello Kitty Greetings.

Operation Write Home--Challenge #1

Kassidy at Inking it Up Crazy is doing a really nice thing.  She's teaming up with We R Memory Keepers to collect and send cards to our men and women in the military.  It's called Operation Write Home where crafters make cards for the soldiers to send home to their family and friends.  And she's having a challenge to go along with it.  Read all about it here.

This is my entry for Challenge #1--Thinking of You Card.

Thought I'd make plenty of room on the inside so the soldier could write a longer note to their loved one.

It's a Boy!

I don't make many baby cards because I don't know many pregnant ladies!  But a young woman at work just had a baby boy last week and I wanted to send her a card.  I used the New Arrival cartridge for this card.  Using blue cardstock from my stash, I cut this A2 card using the Card 2 feature and <delvry>.  It cuts a window in the card with the baby in it.  The problem with a cut-out like this is that it makes it harder to put a sentiment on the inside of the card without it being seen through the window.  So I covered the opening with some polka-dotted paper.  Cut the square from Lacy Labels so it looks nice on the inside too (it's scalloped).  Also cut the blue label for the inside sentiment from Lacy Labels (this cartridge is great).

As you can see, the inside of the card has a scalloped edge and extends beyond the front of the card when closed.  I cut a separate baby with shadow to put over the cut in the window.  I pop dotted it just a bit.  See this side view below.

The "It's a Boy" lettering was also cut from New Arrival with a shadow.  Then I added the squiggly line down the side (that's actually a stamp; isn't it cool?).  And the blue gem bling in the upper left of the card.  I once read on someone's blog that if you feel your creation is missing something, try adding black to it.  Well that's what I did.  Had originally planned to use the white lettering w/o a shadow and I was trying to put a white border on the card, but it just wasn't working.  Adding black worked instead!  I wish I had shadowed the baby in black too, but he was already done.  So that's my baby card for now; probably won't make any others for quite a while.  TFL!

Father's Day Card for Hubby

Here's a card I made for my husband.  It's another cut from the Father's Day cartridge, designed by Curt Jensen, who was so sweet to leave me a comment on the card I made for my husband's birthday--I used the truck cut from the same cartridge.  Curt is also the designer for  Provo Craft's Campin' Critters (and others!).  I don't have that cartridge, but it looks totally adorable!

Anyway, onto the card I made.  Using the Father's Day seasonal cartridge, I cut the car at 1-3/4", which was 4-1/4" "Fit to Length."  I cut that in DCWV red glimmer cardstock.  Then I cut the car layer in black, which is the silhouette.  Then I cut the whole car again in the silver shimmer cardstock and filled in the empty spaces.  I love how it turned out!  This is a great cartridge for making those sometimes difficult cards for men.

Using Lacy Labels lite cartridge, I cut the label at 3" with a red shadow.  Then added some buttons to the corners threaded with cord.  On the inside, I used another cut from the Father's Day cartrdge for the sentiment.  That turned out great, didn't it.  Cut that at 3".

A Girly Card

I have to say that I love this card!  Usually, I'm my own worst critic, but I was real pleased how this one turned out.  I made it for my niece's birthday who turned 24 today. 

How I did it:

Forever Young cartridge:  Girl cut at 5-1/4" inches w/layer and the Mirror cut at 3-3/4" w/layer

Paper:  DCWV Hippie Chic matstock.  Love the patterns!  Inside paper and bright green cardstock are from my scraps.

Punch:  Fiskars corner punch (don't know the name)

Stamps:  From the $1.00 bin at Michael's on the front; sentiment inside is a wooden stamp from Inkadinkadoo.

Birthday Card

Here's a simple birthday card I made for a co-worker who likes wine.  This is from Celebrate with Flourish lite cartridge cut at 3" with layers and shadow.  The card is 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".  The sentiment is from Fiskars Make a Wish Quote stamp set, which is stamped on a Lacy Label cut (Bird), also a lite cartridge.  Inside I stamped Happy Birthday from the same stamp set on matching red paper.

I want to enter this in Emma's Throwback Thursday Challenge, use a Lite cartridge.  Well I used two of them.  The other requirement is adding bling of some kind.  It's hard to tell, but the grey cardstock is shimmer cardstock, and the white has a shimmery finish too.  TFL!

A Very Manly Card

I just bought the new Father's Day cartridge (seasonal cartridge) to get some "real man" cuts from it.  I made this card for my husband for his birthday.  Think it's manly enough?!

I cut the truck at 3-3/4" but it looks huge!  And it is (must be those tires).  I had to make this a 5x7 card.  I've never used a seasonal cartridge before and don't know if they're all like this, but this cart has just the cut (which was more like a silhouette) and one layer.  That's it.  The layer was the white body of the truck.  I filled in other empty spaces myself using grey cardstock for the tires and embossed those with Cuttlebug Herringbone.  Looks almost like tire treads, doesn't it!?  Used aluminum foil for the wheels and front grill.  For the headlights I used some vellum colored with a yellow highlighter and the windshield is also vellum colored with a light gray marker (tinted).  The words are cut from Birthday Cakes, using my Design Studio.  This is only the second time I've used it.  I was happy to see that I got the welding to work on the letters, but I'm not too pleased that they're not all the same size.  Funny what you can see after you take the picture!  Not sure how to size things by typing in the numerals--it didn't seem to be working.  Sure it was user error! 

If you've used the Father's Day cartridge, I'd like to know what your experience has been with it.  Do you like it?  What about other seasonal cartridges?  Are they basically the same with a cut and one layer?

Entry for Chillin' and Grillin' Bug Hop

Barb at Bug Bites had another great hop this past weekend.  I was a stop in the first hop (for the Grillin' part), but not this time, so I get to enter her challenge.  So here's my card for part 2, Chillin'.  It's an A2 card.  The green mat is embossed with Cuttlebug Scrollwork and sanded.  The glass of lemonade is cut from Just Because cards at 3.5".  I glittered the lemon slice.  The ladybug and "chillin" is cut from Create a Critter. 

New Arrival Card

This is the first time I used this cartridge, and I love it!  I think this card turned out so cute.  Just love this cut of the pregnant mom.  My daughter needed a card for a baby shower for her step sister, so I was happy to oblige. 

Sorry the pictures aren't better.  I really have issues taking pictures at night.  This card is white, 5x6.5.  The pink mat on the front is cut at 4.75x6.25 and embossed with Cuttlebug Polka Dots embossing folder.  The mommy was cut at 5.75 plus shadow (almost too big), but she fit.  Adorned the corners with the darker pink cardstock.  The patterned paper is from DCWV Nana's Nursery for Baby Girl.  I have the 4x6 matstack.  The wording comes from the New Arrival cartridge too.  Cut Baby Shower at 2" with shadow and the For You with shadow at 1-3/4".  Actually cut this twice so I could use the "r" from the word For and add it to the word "You."

Coordinating Purse and Card Set

I'm trying to link this project to Craft Junkie Too's Linky Party and when doing so, I lost my original post, so I apologize if some of you are seeing this again for a second time!  Click on the link above to check it out!

Here's a project I've been waiting to share, but I had to make sure the recipient had received it before I posted it.  Let me provide a little background first.  My girlfriend really loves Vera Bradley purses; she has MANY of them along with coordinating accessories.  Since I had the Forever Young cartridge, I was determined to make her a "mini" purse for her birthday.  So I cut the largest purse possible with my Expression, which turned out to be 6-1/4" tall with the handle.  The body of the purse is about 3" tall by 1" deep.  So I knew I could fit some 3x3 note cards inside the purse, and that's what I did.

 I also made a silly birthday card for my friend, still going with the pocketbook theme.  Here's the card.

And I wrapped the pack of cards with ribbon that I found in the $1.00 ribbon bin at Michael's.  I couldn't believe when I saw it.  I knew it was perfect for this project.

How I made it:

Pocketbook from Forever Young cut at "Fit to Page" (page 70, it has no cutouts on the purse).  The lipstick, sunglasses, hat, and nail polish bottles also cut from Forever Young.

Layered different colored petals for a flower with some bling in the center

Flowered paper is K&Co Sparkly Sweet Specialty Paper, two-sided (I just love this paper)

Solid colors from my cardstock stash.

Mats for front of cards cut from Elegant Edges (flower pattern at 2-3/4"; solid cardstock at 2-1/4"); used the shift feature of 4 different base cuts:  Butterfly1 (p.30); Stamp (p.37); Bird2 (p.40); and Scallops (p.48).  Lined the inside of the card with matching solid cardstock too.

Stamped with clear rubber stamp sayings.

I was real pleased with how this set turned out.  Love to know what you think; appreciate all your comments.  TFL!
