Grillin' and Chillin' Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to your next stop on the Grillin' & Chillin' Bug Hop, hosted by Barb of BugBites.  Kudos to Barb for putting this hop together, and for including me!  Thanks, Barb!

If you've come from visiting Glenda at Glenda's Cards, you're in the right place!  If you've just happened across my blog and would like to hop along from the beginning, click here.

As you've seen, each designer along the bug trail is featuring a project based on the Grillin' & Chillin' theme.  I wanted to make something for both themes, so here are my projects.  First, an invitation to a cookout for the grillin' theme of this hop.

This is a 4.5 x 6.25 card.  I used the From My Kitchen cartridge to cut the grill, the timer, and the salt & pepper shakers.   The hot dog is cut from the same paper I used as the background from DCWV Nana's Kitchen.  Isn't that the cutest?!  I popped the hot dog up over an existing one and changed the "mustard" to "ketchup" with a red gel pen!  And I had some mulberry type paper with that gold fleck running through it in my stash that was just perfect for inside the grill.

"You're Invited" and the words inside the card are all cut from the Wild Card cartridge, along with the frame.  I used some tan colored cardstock and stamped the woodgrain effect on it with brown ink.  BBQ was cut from the Birthday Cakes cartridge with shadow.  I love the font on this cart.  The dotted lines on the inside are made with a border stamp that was part of a set by The Paper Company called "Baby Clear Stamps."  Heidi Grace also has a dotted line border stamp in an 11-piece set.

My second project is a card for the chillin' theme of the hop.  My thoughts of chillin' went to cooling down on a hot summer day by enjoying the cool water at the beach.

This card is an A2 card.  The dog is cut from Paper Pups at 2-3/4."  Umbrella, waves,  and crab were cut from Life is a Beach.  Embossed the blue background with Cuttlebug D'vine Swirls.  Sentiment from my computer.

Now for the good stuff.  I have some blog candy to give away:  a set of Indadinkadoo "travel words" stamps, floral embellishments from Recollections, and some bling.  For a chance to win my blog candy, leave a comment on this post.  You don't have to become a follower, but I sure would appreciate it if you do.

Next stop on the hop is Sherrie at Sherrie Scraps with Passion   See what she has in store for you today.

Remember, once you have hopped to all the bug stops, it's your turn to show us your Grillin' & Chillin' project.  So hop on back to BugBites and link up your project by midnight on May 30 to be eligible for the grand prize!  Make sure to include a Cricut cut on your project and include one of the hidden critters from the bug stop blogs.

Bake Sale Blog Hop, Last Day

Well, I have really enjoyed being in this blog hop.  It was my first hop, and I've had a great time.  Thanks to Georgiana of Carson's Creations and Cheryl of Cards by CG for asking me to participate!  And to be included with all the other talented ladies.  I also want to thank everyone that has gone through our hop--I received so many nice comments from current followers and from new followers, too.  Thank you all for joining in the hop!!

For today's project, I used the Sweet Treats cartridge (which was actually loaned to me from a friend).  This cart is really cute:  provides cards, cupcake holders, and party favors to make for each design.  And I had fun using it.  I started out with a cupcake card that could be an invitation.  Then decided to try making the matching party favor.  This is so cute; probably because it's small.  The largest I could cut the favor was 3-3/4" high since that filled the length of the page.  So here's the set.
I've never made a party favor before, and the design included holes on each side of the favor "box", which I assume is for a handle.  There wasn't a handle included as a cut (at least not that I could see), so I put a ribbon in each hole and tied a knot.  There was a small "reinforcement" looking cut for the shift key of the party favor and I'm thinking it's made to go around the hole, so that's where I put it!  Has anyone else wondered about a handle and these little extras?  I'd like to know what you did.

I also tried making a cupcake holder.  Whenever I'm making something 3-D, I usually try "fit to page" because most times they don't cut very large.  But this did!  Actual size put together was 5" cubed.  I wound up cutting the top edge with decorative scissors since it was too tall.   Instead of a cupcake holder, I wound up with a candy or snack dish!  And it holds lots of snacks, too!

And since I was having so much fun, I decided to make one more card with a cake on it; the more sweets the merrier for this Bake Sale Blog Hop!  This was also from the Sweet Treats cartridge.

Well, as you know, I'm the last stop, so this ends the hop.  If you think you've missed any stops along the way, here's the full lineup.

Bake Sale Blog Hop

Hello All, now that the Blogger issues have passed, I hope you've been able to hop through with ease today.  I'm your last stop, but if you've come here by chance, you may want to start at the beginning with Georgiana at Carson's Creations.  Thanks to all that visited last night and for all your comments!  They're much appreciated.

My project for today is a cake box.  Using My Cut Search, I learned that there are only 3 Cricut cartridges that have a cake box cut:  Tags, Bags, Boxes, and Mores; Tie the Knot; and Wedding Solutions.  I had recently purchased Tie the Knot for $18.99 at a Joann's sale, so I was happy to learn I could make a cake box, so fitting for this Bake Sale Blog Hop!  Here's what I did:

Using paper from DCWV Green Tea Stack (1/2 w/foil), I used "Fit to Page" to cut the base box.  I wanted to see how large a box it would make.  It cut at 9-3/4."
Then I scored it using the tick marks to make the folds.  They're tiny so you have to look closely for them.  Very quickly, your paper starts to take shape.
Next I cut the box lid at 9-3/4".  I love the scalloped edges.

Then I scored, folded, and taped the lid.  I added some green ribbon from my stash around the lid, made a flower using the color scheme of the box, and cut a label from Lacy Labels at 3-1/4".  This cartridge is great for labels like this.  And voila, a cake box!

Oh, and I added a little bling to the label and flower--couldn't forget that!!

I have some blog candy to give away, so leave a comment on this post for a chance to win.  Posting on yesterday's and tomorrow's posts will give you extra chances to win.  You don’t have to be a follower, but I’d appreciate it if you were.  Make sure you leave a way for me to get in touch with you if you are the winner.  I will draw a name using random.org on Monday night, May 16.
My blog candy includes a set of “Party Invite” stamps by Stampendous, some “baking” stamps, Celebrate rub-ons, and of course, some bling!

Bake Sale Blog Hop!

Hi Everyone and Welcome to the Bake Sale Blog Hop!

So glad you could join us!!  If you’ve just come from Crazy About Cricut, you’re at the right place.  If you want to start from the beginning, hop back to Carson’s Creations.  Georgiana is one of our co-hosts for the hop today, along with Cheryl from Cards by CG.  When Georgiana asked me to be in the hop, I was so excited!  This is my first hop, and it challenged me to think beyond making cards and layouts.  I didn't bake anything, but rather was thinking more behind the scenes on where the baking takes place, and the tools needed to turn out those delicious baked goods.  So here’s my project for Day 1 – wall art for the home!

Ingredients:
Cartridge:  From My Kitchen
Utensils cut at 8.5” and shadowed
Words cut at 1.5”, but “whisk” was cut at 1.25”
Rolling Pin cut at 11.5” and shadowed
Embossing Folders:
Sizzix Wild Dashes (starter kit) for the rolling pin
Cuttlebug Herringbone for the center of the spoon
Paper:        DCWV Nana’s Kitchen for the background
DCWV Seasons Scrapbook Stack for the solid textured colors
Bronze brads from stash
Record Album Display Frame, 12.5 x 12.5

This project was so much fun to make.  I discovered that I really like making these larger cuts on my Expression.  And the framed art looks great in my kitchen!

So what do you think?  I have some candy to give away.  Just leave a comment on this post.  You don’t have to be a follower, but I’d appreciate it if you were.  Make sure you leave a way for me to get in touch with you if you are the winner.  I will draw a winner using random.org on Monday night, May 16.  Leaving comments on the next two day's posts will give you extra chances to win.
Here’s a set of “Party Invite” stamps by Stampendous, some “baking” stamps, Celebrate rub-ons, and of course, we can't forget the bling!

Scrap Room Decorations

I haven't posted for so long!  It's been a busy week and you'll see what I've been busy doing real soon.  In the meantime, I wanted to show you some decorations I hung in my craft room today.   Ever since I got my new space and new design for my blog, I've been wanting to frame the header from my blog to hang in my room.  I finally found the right size frame at Michael's without spending an arm and a leg.  The price was unbelievable.  I think it was only $2.50!!   And I had bought this "craft" sign at Joann's a while ago for half price, so that only cost $7.00.  It was pink and I don't have any pink in my room, so my husband spray painted it black for me and I embellished it with some red red accents.  I just love such great bargains!!

I did tie a real bow and placed that over the one in the image with some Zots.  So what do you think?  Hope everyone had a happy Mother's Day.  It's been a pretty day here in the East, 70-75 degrees.
